Interzoo, held from 29 May to 1 June 2014 in Nuremberg, Germany, attracted 37,367 trade visitors from 128 countries. This is to be considered a record.
Around 69% of the visitors came from abroad, up 4% from the figures in 2012. Most visitor came from Germany (11,643), followed by Italy (2,107), France (1,316), Great Britain/Northern Ireland (1,167), Spain (1,163), Poland (1,141), the Netherlands (1,138) and the Russian Federation with 1,026 visitors. Most of the specialists from outside Europe travelled from Asia (4,388), namely 3,336 from East Asia and 1,052 from the Middle East and Central Asia. Especially the number of visitors from North America increased this year, namely to 1,006 admissions. 1,875 market players came from the whole of America. Africa was represented by 440 visitors at Interzoo, Australia and Oceania by 357.
More exhibitors
82% of the exhibitors came from abroad. Altogether 1,698 companies (+10%) from 63 countries presented their products and services on a gross display area of 110,000 square metres. Besides Germany, the leading exhibiting nations were the People’s Republic of China, Italy, the USA, Great Britain, the Netherlands, France, Poland and Spain.
Global pet market grows
Data from the market research institute Euromonitor shows that the global pet market grew to over 72 billion euros last year, of which the European pet industry turned over 27 billion euros. The North Americans and Canadians, for example, spent about 24 billion euros on their pets, the South Americans 9.8 billion and the Asians some 7.9 billion euros. Interzoo serves as one of the major international trade show where expert around pet food products, grooming aids and accessories come together. The next edition will be held from 26 – 29 May 2016, again in Nuremberg, Germany.
