Wisconsin promotion board invites Taiwan feed buying team

04-09-2009 | |

A group of Taiwanese feed industry representatives is touring Wisconsin gathering first-hand information on the handling and feeding of Dried Distiller’s Grains with Solubles.

A relatively new export, dried distillers grains exports from Wisconsin have grown steadily since 2006 and now account for an estimated $20 million in sales.

Taiwan is the third largest importer of DDGS from the U.S., after Canada and Turkey.

"These visits help us develop relationships between Taiwanese DDGS buyers and US suppliers so that we can further develop overseas markets,” explains Ken Rosenow, President of the Wisconsin Corn Promotion Board.

“It’s a great example of our corn checkoff funds working hard for us. The buyers gain a better understanding of the value of the US DDGS in their feed milling and/or livestock operations, which helps encourage them to make more purchases of US DDGS in the future."

The Taiwanese DDGS Survey Team visit is sponsored by the US Grains Council and the group is accompanied by Clover Chang, USGC Director in Taiwan.
