Younglove builds new Pilgrim’s feed mill

16-01-2007 | |

Younglove Construction LLC has begun construction of a new feed mill for US company Pilgrim’s Pride Corp.

The new feed mill features 35,000-bushel-per-hour corn
receiving; 280-ton-per-hour ingredient receiving; one current and one future
70-ton-per-hour grinding system; 22 ingredient bins with 2,875 tons of storage;
and an 8-ton batching and mixing system at 180 tons per hour, including one
20-bin micro system and six-station bulk sack station.

Continuous-flow-style system
The pellet mills are
housed in a pelleting tower directly adjacent to the main mill tower, primarily
to provide adequate operational and maintenance room for one current and one
future 90-ton-per-hour pelleting system. The fats coating utilizes a
continuous-flow-style system with a surge hopper on load cells and Centri-Flow
dry flow meter with the ability to add up to four enzymes. Loadout utilizes a
single 2,500-ton loadout driveway with weigh lorry system.

Storage capacity
Additional features to the feed
mill include 64,000 bushels of grain storage in seven silos and three interstice
bins, one 1,900-ton soy meal silo with a Laidig unloader, air compressors and
two 400 hp gas-fired boilers. One 6,000-pound pallet lift is used to provide
vertical access from grade level to the work floor, and one 500-pound manlift is
used for vertical access to the roof and intermediate floors.

Younglove’s services on
this project include conceptual design, structural engineering, general
construction, construction management, slipform concrete construction, equipment
installation and tilt-up construction.
