Novus and Resilient Biotics partner on new swine health solution

Novus International has entered a strategic co-development partnership with North Carolina-based biotechnology company Resilient Biotics to create a novel feed solution that supports immune health and helps reduce the risk of respiratory challenges in pigs. This joint development effort will leverage the company’s proprietary microbiome product discovery platform, custom databases built for understanding the role of microbial strains in porcine respiratory health, and an extensive collection of swine microbials to develop precision solutions for swine. The new product is expected to take three years to develop, including extensive testing to ensure its efficacy.

Utrix and DMA Group join forces to enter Iraqi market

Utrix has announced that its portfolio of solutions designed to enhance animal performance and well-being is now available to feed mills and livestock producers in Iraq through distribution by DMA Group. Michel Daher, business support director for Utrix: “We are confident that the presence and market expertise of DMA Group will help grow our foothold in the Iraqi market, which stands among the top 3 in the MEA region for poultry feed.” 

Animine & Feedworks USA partner to expand the precision minerals business

Animine, an independent supplier of precision minerals, has announced its collaboration with Feedworks USA in the US market. Established in 2005, Feedworks USA distributes specialty feed ingredients designed to enhance the health and performance of both monogastric and ruminant animals. Animine’s portfolio consists of products tailored to improve the health and nutrition of pigs, poultry and dairy cows. 

Axitan and Qualitech partner

Biotech company Axitan Limited has partnered with QualiTech for the development and distribution of certain novel endolysin products. QualiTech will be the exclusive distributor for Axitan’s FORC3 product for the swine, ruminant and all poultry markets in North America, except broilers. Axitan will continue to be the exclusive distributor for broilers. FORC3 is a solution that targets Clostridium perfringens, the causative agent of necrotic enteritis in poultry. The companies are collaborating to develop novel endolysin-based products to resolve pathogenic issues in the swine and ruminant segments, and QualiTech will have the exclusive distribution rights of these new products in North America.  

Natac certifies the omega-3 plant in As Somozas with the GMP+ and Halal seals

Grupo Natac, a biotechnology company specialised in botanical extracts and omega-3 oils, has obtained the first 2 certifications for its omega-3 factory, which was launched in mid-September in As Somozas, Coruña, Spain. The company has achieved the GMP+ and Halal seals. 

Alltech’s mycotoxin management testing program expands offering

Alltech has announced the expansion of its mycotoxin testing program Alltech Rapiread, which now includes a new collaboration with Waters | Vicam and the connection to its analytical tool, Vertu Touch. Offering touch-screen operation, the Vertu Touch lateral flow strip test reader works with Vicam’s Vertu strip tests to deliver full-range quantitative results for up to 6 major mycotoxins.

Schothorst Feed Research chooses Ruminix Software to build its own system (the E-dairy model)

Animal nutrition software solutions provider, A-Systems, has announced that Schothorst Feed Research has chosen Ruminix software to implement their E-dairy rationing model. This collaboration aims to make Schothorst Feed Research’s advanced expertise in dairy nutrition more accessible to feed producers worldwide, enabling data-driven decisions for optimal dairy production. Schothorst Feed Research’s proprietary rationing model predicts milk yield based on specific feed inputs, allowing producers to optimise both nutrition and production efficiency.

Barentz appoints Derk Jan Terhorst as new CEO

Specialty ingredients solutions provider Barentz has appointed Derk Jan Terhorst as Group CEO, effective 1 January 2025. Taking over from Terry Hill who served as Interim CEO since May 2024, Terhorst brings a wealth of experience to the role, having been with Barentz for more than 3 years as Group CFO. Prior to joining Barentz, he held senior management positions in Ahold Delhaize and Tony’s Chocolonely, gaining expertise in international financial management, with experience spanning Europe and the US. 

EW Nutrition welcomes new team members

EW Nutrition welcomes Marie Gallissot and Nadia Yacoubi to the German-headquartered animal nutrition company. Marie Gallissot joins as Category Manager Feed Quality Solutions, with a rich background and over 15 years’ experience in toxin solutions and feed management. She is going to oversee a portfolio comprising toxin binders, antioxidants, acidifiers and more. Nadia Yacoubi joins as Phytogenic Products Manager in the Gut Health platform. With a doctoral degree in veterinary sciences, she brings 10+ years of technical expertise in the field of gut health, as well as animal husbandry and food safety. The company has also appointed 2 new regional directors, namely Hai Xia Zhu, who will lead the China team, and Gert-Jan Gerrits, who takes over the South East Asia and Pacific unit. Zhu has a background of more than 15 years in leadership roles in animal protein production, while Gerrits brings with him more than 20 years of experience leading teams in the animal farming, health, and nutrition industry.
