EW Nutrition acquires BioStabil and launches a new xylanase product

EW Nutrition has acquired the Biomin BioStabil product line from DSM-Firmenich, giving the animal nutrition solutions company ownership of an established line of silage inoculants. Also, at VICTAM 2024 in Bangkok, the company officially launched its newest product, Axxess XY, an intrinsically thermostable xylanase that breaks down both the soluble and insoluble fibre fraction from feed ingredients. It releases nutrients trapped in cell wall fractions and improves the gut environment by reducing viscosity, according to the company.

Borregaard’s lignosulfonates reauthorised

Borregaard has announced the reauthorisation of its lignosulfonate products as feed additives for all animal species by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA). As the only lignosulfonate producer, Borregaard has spearheaded the reauthorisation process towards EFSA and the EU Commission over the past 13 years. The date of effect is 21.03.2024. This approval applies to the use of Borregaard’s lignosulfonates as a technological additive (functional group: binders) for all animal species.

ADM’s Bluffton Plant is AFIA’s Premix/Ingredient Feed Facility of the Year

The American Feed Industry Association (AFIA), in partnership with Feedstuffs, named ADM’s animal nutrition feed facility in Bluffton, Indiana, as its 2023 Premix/Ingredient Feed Facility of the Year. The plant made a strategic shift to manufacturing premixes in response to changing markets. AFIA presented the award to plant manager Brent Weedman during AFIA’s Purchasing and Ingredient Suppliers Conference in San Antonio.

Evonik Vland Biotech joint venture commences operations

The newly-founded joint venture Evonik Vland Biotech, based in Binzhou, China, commenced operations on 1 January 2024. The parent companies, Evonik China and Shandong Vland Biotech, want to jointly expand the market presence of their products, such as probiotics for the gut health of livestock in the Greater China region, and develop new products and solutions. The joint venture was officially opened in Qingdao on 14 March.

Andritz introduces automation and digitalisation solutions for the feed industry

Andritz Feed & Biofuel is introducing a comprehensive portfolio of automation and digitalisation solutions for the feed industry under its Metris digital platform, which the company says supports operational efficiency, resilience, readiness and sustainability, and aims to allow for fully autonomous feed plant operations by 2027.

Deloitte and DSM-Firmenich partner with Sustell

Deloitte and DSM-Firmenich have entered into a strategic partnership aimed to address the growing need for environmental accountability and unlock new opportunities related to sustainability across the animal protein value chain using DSM-Firmenich’s life cycle assessment (LCA) platform, Sustell.

CCPA highlights nutritional solutions management of heat stress

The CCPA group says its Thermoplus solution for ruminants and Thermo Control solution for pigs have a direct effect on body temperature, contributing to improved animal well-being during hot summers. The company says that while bird physiology is different, and it is not possible to act on body temperature regulation, Feedstim Poultry acts on the consequences of stress generated by periods of high temperature and humidity. The company says that by incorporating these nutritional solutions into feed, it is possible to reduce the drop in performance induced by heat stress.

Alltech and Thai Wah Public Co. partner to advance carbon reduction efforts in Asia

Alltech and Thai Wah Public Co. have joined forces to advance carbon reduction efforts in the Asian agri-food industry by leveraging scientific nutritional solutions and technologies. A MoU was signed in February by the presidents of both companies. The companies are collaborating to boost sustainable animal feed production, enhance animal feed nutrition for optimal health and performance, and promote efficient waste utilisation through a biogas project.

DSM-Firmenich and Agrifirm create a new platform for poultry production

DSM-Firmenich and Agrifirm have partnered with their Sustell and PoultryNEXT platforms to create a platform for poultry performance optimisation, focused on health and sustainability. The new platform will offer a solution for transparent and responsible poultry production addressing the value chain needs, say the companies. A pilot will be rolled out with Agrifirm partner farms, utilising PoultryNEXT with sustainability insights provided by Sustell. The service will give farmers access to sustainability insights such as a farm’s environmental footprint to support responsible production performance.

Evonik unveils latest global trial results

Evonik has released the second edition of its MetAmino Atlas, a set of 19 new performance trials investigating the relative bioavailability of supplementary methionine sources in animal diets. The latest studies reconfirm that 65 units of MetAmino can replace 100 units of methionine hydroxy analog free acids and its calcium salts (MHA-FA/Ca) in feeds for poultry, swine, and aquatic species without compromising animal performance.
