Russian feed production often contains banned substances
Over the past recent years in Russia an increased number of cases whereby agricultural and feed products have revealed prohibited substances has dramatically increased, the head of Rosselkhoznadzor Sergey Dankvert announced at a recent press conference in RIA Novosti.
In particular, the head of department noted that inspections from time to time revealed the violations of the veterinary rules on the content of antibiotics and coccidiostats, which is the result of the imperfect state control over the production of animal feed in the country.
“It is of great concern that commercial eggs revealed coccidiostatic” – quoted Mr. Dankvert Russian media SoyaNews. “Their introduction into compound feed production for chickens or laying hens in Russia is not permitted. This is the result of the fact that we recently simplified the regulations of work of feed industry, and so today even on the same line it can be produced both clean and not clean feed products”.
According to the chief veterinarian of the country, the current system of veterinary control in feed industry is insufficient as today the company feed mills face inspections three times a year, and receive notifications of each inspections two months before it actually takes place.
