The new agricultural exhibition, Agromek-livestock in the Messe Centre Herning, Denmark, attained a total attendance of 38,641.
Agromek-livestock, which closed on Saturday 28th November, was attended by 4,644 foreign guests from 67 countries. Last year, the Danish show attracted 51,600 visitors, although at that time the emphasis was more on agricultural machinery.
Still, the chairman of the Agromek Exhibition Committee, managing director Peter Hansen, Cormall Agro Holding A/S stated: “The attendance figures were as anticipated. This is a new exhibition which is two-thirds of the size of earlier Agromek Exhibitions and is much more specialised.”
Livestock farming
“This year, the exhibition was directed at livestock farming and does not, therefore, have the same wide appeal to the entire agricultural sector. On the other hand, it has been an extremely positive experience for many of the exhibitors who were visited by farmers who expressed their faith in the future."
The chairman was pleased to note that there had been a very impressive attendance of foreign guests. “This underlines the fact that Danish farming and Danish agricultural machinery have a good reputation in other countries. Many people are prepared to travel long distances to study the latest technology and what we have to offer. We can be proud of this reputation.”
Visitors
The majority of foreign guests came from Germany with 839 visitors followed by Sweden – 729, Norway – 438 and Finland and Poland – each with 317 visitors. Since 2008, Agromek’s policy has changed as the show alternates its emphasis between either agricultural machinery and livestock. Before 2008, the show contained a strong emphasis on both machinery and livestock in every edition. In addition, the show moved from January to November.
