02-04-2007 | |

Exports of US distiller’s dried grains with solubles (DDGS) reached 1.25 million metric tons in 2006, a 69% increase in three years, reports the US Grain Council’s Global Update newsletter.

“DDGS sales in existing and developing markets rose dramatically as more
customers have learned how to use DDGS,” sad Dan Keefe, USGC manager of
international operations – DDGS. “Council programs have educated importers,
nutritionists and end users from South America to Asia on DDGS inclusion in
dairy, beef, poultry and swine rations.”

Mexico imported 367,386 tons of
U.S. DDGS, surpassing the European Union (316,293 tons) as the United States’
largest customer. USGC DDGS promotion efforts have also contributed to increased
exports to Canada (121,784 tons), Taiwan (92,824 tons), Japan (45,248 tons),
Korea (24,587 tons) and Southeast Asia (194,821).
