Lallemand Animal Nutrition has launched a new range of of aquaculture bioremediation solutions, presented at VIV Asia 2015.
A pond is a complex and specific ecosystem where fish or shrimp, phytoplankton, zooplankton, invertebrates, bacteria, and more are involved in waste treatment or production, nutrient delivery or consumption, chemical and physical parameter modification. Bioremediation consists in using specifically selected bacteria to exert a positive control of the pond microbial ecosystems.
The product* launched by Lallemand are a range of synergistic combinations of specifically selected naturally occurring micro-organism strains that help maintain water quality during crop cycles, naturally degrading organic wastes and helping control phytoplankton blooms.
Stéphane Ralite, aquaculture product manager for Lallemand Animal Nutrition declared: “Aquaculture Bioremediation is complex because the conditions from one pond to another can be very diverse (in terms of salinity, pH, minerals, organic load, micro-organism population, etc.). The product* has been formulated to respond to a wide range of conditions.”
M. Castex, Ph. D, R&D director at Lallemand Animal Nutrition explained: “For the development and application of our Bioremediation range we have the chance to rely on a very unique tool: one if not the largest collection of micro-organisms of marine origin – over 10.000 strains collected over the world- and a cutting-edge screening platform, notably based on our SeaRCH patent, at Lallemand Aquapharm”.
