Live yeast authorized for use in Australia

07-04-2010 | |

The Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority has authorized the marketing and use in Australia of Lallemand’s probiotic yeast, Levucell SC20 and Levucell SC10ME Titan (Saccharomyces cerevisiae CNCM I-1077), effective from 25th March 2010.

This new authorization for Levucell SC use is an acknowledgement by the APVMA that the ingredient is safe for animal health, human health and the environment.

Levucell SC is a rumen specific yeast; its modes of action are documented in over 50 publications based on more than 15 years’ scientific research in partnership with the French Agronomy Research Institute (INRA) and with other international research institutions.

The live yeast will be imported and distributed in Australia by Probiotec Limited, a leading supplier and producer of animal feed supplements, headquartered in Laverton North, Victoria.

Lallemand and Probiotec have appointed Agrig8 Pty Ltd, based in Maroochydore, Queensland as sub-distributor responsible for servicing the Australian beef feedlot sector.

Agrig8’s field sales and technical team will also develop and support Levucell sales made to the larger dairy unit farm customers.
