Bacillus coagulans Strain CGMCC 13044 is a game-changer: A feed probiotic to improve health, nutrition, and performance of livestock animals with high heat, acids, bile salt resistance with a high stability especially in poultry and pig feed.
With the current increasing demand for feed ingredients, the feed industry has widely focused on alternative ingredients and additives which are more beneficial on nutrient absorption and gut health to ensure the maximum utilisation of feeds, improve animal health and immunity. Probiotics are widely used in the feed industry as a feed additive because probiotics confer health benefits on the host. Although, availability of probiotics in the market, the industry has invested on further research to identify new strains which are more beneficial than the previous. With the comprehensive effort of more than 6 years of research by the R & D center of GBW Group has discovered the new Bacillus coagulans strain CGMCC 13044 with 6 distinctive advantages:
GenProGut reduces the oxidative stress of the animal that can lead to damage intestinal track. The absence of antioxidants to neutralise the free radicals is one of the main reasons for the oxidative stress of the animals. A damaged intestine can lead to poor nutrition digestion and a large number of inflammatory factors that lead to diseases. The following trial was conducted with Diquat which is a bipyridine herbicide that produces a large number of free radicals, induces oxidative damage to the intestines, destroys the intestinal barrier, and causes the release of a large number of inflammatory factors (Figure 1).
Supplementation of the product reduces the expression of pro-inflammatory factors, increases the level of anti-inflammatory factors (Figure 2), and maintains the balance between pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory factors. Furthermore, results have shown that supplementing with GenProGut can reduce the concentration of MDA (Malondialdehyde) in the cells and increase the concentration of SOD (Superoxide Dismutase) (Figure 3). So, the combination of reduced MDA and Increased SOD concentrations relieves oxidative stress damage.
The product can resist heat (>90 0C) and high pressure, thus surviving the steam conditioning and pelleting process routinely used in the feed industry (Figure 4).
GenProGut can survive pH 1.2 – 2.5. The recovery rate of it in artificial gastric juice is more than 90% (Protease concentration is 1500U/ ml, culture for 1 hour) (Figure 5).
GenProGut probiotics strain was not affected by the bile salt. It has resistance ability with the presence of bile salt in the intestinal track (Figure 6).
Normal Bacillus coagulans bacteria powder can be stored only 6 months for >90% survival rate. But GenProGut is stable for 12 months with >90% survival rate by doubling the stability.
The product has the ability to produce lactic acid than Lactobacillus acidophilus within a short period of time (Figure 7A). And also, it destroys harmful bacteria such as E. coli. The bacteriostasis test of Bacillus coagulans on Escherichia coli was showed that Bacillus coagulans had strong inhibition and killing ability against E. coli (Figure 7B).
Due to the dual respiration possibility of Bacillus coagulans (GenProGut), it can exert positive effects throughout the whole intestinal tract. The colonisation of new Bacillus coagulans strain in the intestine is about 45%, which is better than Bacillus subtilis (Figure 8).
Design:
80 weaned piglets weighing 7.0 – 7.2 kg at 23 days old were randomly divided into 2 groups, every group had 40 piglets. water was given ad libitum.
Group 1: Control group, no additive
Group 2: GenProGut group, supplemented 300 g/ton Bacillus coagulans on the nursery diet
Experiment period:37 days.
Results are shown in Table 1
By considering all of the above research findings and feed trials, this product is a real game-changer in feed nutrition and gut health of the animals.
