New technology for feed ensiling in Kazakhstan

For a long time the lack of a stable feed supply was the most important reason that has been holding back the development of agriculture in Kazakhstan. This problem may soon be solved thanks to new technology for feed ensiling, which preserves the fodder better and provides the animals with higher quality feed.

Kazakh scientists created a specialized bacterial starter "Kazbiosil" for three types of silage: hard to ensile plants (legumes), easy to ensile plants (corn, sunflower) and almost non ensilagable plants (for example cereal straw) on the basis of high active strains of lactic acid and propionic acid bacteria.
 
The methods of preparation of paste and powder with Kazbiosil will guarantee a shelf life of 6 months to a paste-like form starter and 12 months – to dry form starter.
 
The application of this technology allows to quickly increasing the acidity of the green mass that contributes to the suppression of pathogenic microorganisms and preservation of food nutrients.
 
It also significantly increases the preservation of dry substance in feed, just like increasing its palatability, and in cows’ average daily milk yield and fat content in milk.

Biological silage inoculant Kazbiosil differs from all known because it is specialized for a certain type of plant material.
 
The introduction of the technology in animal feed production will help to improve feed quality and increase its productivity.
 
Technology has been nominated for the State Prize of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the field of science and technology.
