Studies involving Agrado Plus feed ingredient, from Novus International, have consistent performance of dairy cows under varying levels of unsaturated fats in the diet.

The dairy operations that participated in multiple university studies differed in both size and location throughout the United States. The diets examined included rations that used corn, bakery by-products, brewer’s grains (dry and wet), corn gluten feed, corn gluten meal or distillers dried grains with solubles (DDGS), plus the addition of Agrado Plus feed ingredient. While diets high in unsaturated fats usually decrease the performance of dairy cows, in each instance, the trials showed no change in milk fat and in some instances an increase in milk production.

“Dairy producers have been under increased pressure to lower their feed costs as a result of the drought that has impacted much of the corn-belt,” commented Ed Galo, Dairy Sales Manager, at Novus. “We’re pleased to offer dairy producers a nutritional solution that will help ensure their cows perform at optimum levels regardless of the levels of unsaturated fats in their diets.”
