UK pet food company receives grant

27-06-2007 | |

A business Enterprise Award from the Home-Grown Cereals Authority (HGCA) is set to help a UK rabbit, guinea pig and hamster foods manufacturer expand into the European market.

The My Pet
Foods
range of steam-flaked pet food products was granted £20,000, to help
develop sales and identify new distribution channels. The HGCA advises other companies that
they still have time to apply for funding – of up to £50,000 – during the latest
round of awards which is open until 9th July.

The HGCA Enterprise Awards
are designed to promote new, innovative uses of UK grain. It is estimated that
the My Pet Foods project will generate additional grain usage of 900 tonnes.

My Pet Foods is the pet food business arm of Kent based Grain Harvesters
Ltd. My Pet Foods and Grain Harvesters purchase £14 million worth of locally
produced grains annually.
