Argentina approves more grain exports

27-08-2008 | |

The Argentine government has approved an additional 1.44 million tonnes of 2007/08 wheat for export.

The government in recent months has gradually allowed
shipments of wheat to export markets after banning them last year to keep down
domestic costs for food staples such as bread and pasta, amid a broader battle
against inflation. Argentina is one of the world’s five leading wheat suppliers
with most exports destined for neighbouring Brazil.
