GM canola could boost productivity
If half the current growing areas for canola were planted with GM crop there would be a total financial benefit of $157 million, according to a study by the University of Melbourne.
The report shows that the bulk of GM canola is sold
for similar prices to those achieved by conventional canola and that no price
premium is being gained by refusing to allow the introduction of GM crops.

According to one of the authors of the report, Professor Graham Roush,
Canada has used herbicide tolerant canola to increase average yields by 27% over
the last 10 years.
