Biomin partners with AllAboutFeed and VNU Exhibitions to bring the latest on mycotoxins to VIV Europe. To be held on May 21, 2014, “Mycotoxins in Focus: Trends, Facts & Effects” will bring timely insights on mycotoxin risk management while presenting an overview of developments on global mycotoxin occurrences over the last decade and their consequences on animal production.
This year, 2014, marks a decade since Biomin first started collecting and analysing field data on mycotoxin occurrences around the world. Key points of the BIOMIN Mycotoxin Survey, which has become the global reference point for understanding where and why mycotoxins grow, will be delivered in the opening address of the latest trends and facts on its regional occurrences.
The second presentation will detail how Deoxynivalenol (DON), a type-B trichothecene, affects poultry and particularly swine through its negative influence on gut health. Animals suffering from the toxic effects of DON will also exhibit symptoms such as feed refusal and poor immunity. The presentation will also highlight the mode of action of trichothecenes and the need for sensitivity in conducting differential diagnosis in monogastric species suspected of in-feed DON poisoning.
