Nutra Nuggets dog food recalled

A brand of Nutra Nuggets dog food, produced by a Diamond Pet Foods has been recalled after tests found trace amounts of the plastic material, “melamine” in the food.

The recall affects Nutra Nuggets 40-pound lamb meal and rice formula with the
following production codes NLR0404A2SL and NLR0404B2SL with the expiration date
of Oct. 9, 2008.

No animal deaths have been reported, but pet owners
should stop using the recalled food and return the product to their local
retailer for a full refund. Pet owners should also contact their vet if their
pets become ill.

The recalled product, manufactured at Diamond Pet
Foods’ Lathrop facility has been distributed at stores in California, Arizona,
Nevada, Oregon, Washington and British Columbia.
