Thywissen GmbH receives EFISC certification

16-03-2012 | |

Crushing and refinery facility C. Thywissen GmbH in Neuss is a well-known German manufacturer of plant oils and fats for human consumption and for technical purposes and for the production of animal feedstuffs.

Thywissen processes about 700.000 tonnes of rapeseed, linseed and sunflower seeds annually and has chosen for the EFISC feed safety management system for the certification of its high quality feed materials.

With the successful certification of the production site C. Thywissen GmbH is added to the growing list of German feed material producers certified against EFISC.

“With our 173 years of experience, we know like no one else the importance of a real feed safety culture in our business for producing safe feed materials.“ Thomas Hofmann, quality, environmental and safety manager with Thywissen said.
“Our customers have the right to expect safe feed materials every day of the year. Our certification against the EFISC scheme shows the full commitment of our management and of each employee to the best implementation of the feed hygiene regulation, based on a solid and robust management, HACCP system and prerequisite programme”.
The EFISC Code was developed as a result of the shared commitment between the starch industry (AAF) and the oilseed crushing, oil refining and protein meal industry (FEDIOL) within the framework of the European Feed Ingredients Platform (EFIP). The Code is based on the European Guide to good practice for the industrial manufacture of safe feed materials, endorsed by the European Commission and the EU Member States in 2010. The code is open to other feed material producing sectors to join.
