The US exported 7% less feed grains between September through to March of this marketing year, compared to similar period last year.

At the same time, the US showed higher exports of distiller’s dried grains with solubles (DDGS), corn gluten feed, corn gluten meal, sorghum and pork working to offset weaker exports of corn, barley, beef, poultry and ethanol, according to numbers released this week by the US Census Bureau.

Last marketing year, US exports of feed grains in all forms totalled a near record 100 million tons, representing 26% of US corn, sorghum and barley production. This year, the US Grains Council (USGC) expects the total will be in the range of 93 to 96 million tons based on export statistics to date and market conditions.
