Most of the corn was used for animal feed (38.4%), followed by fuel ethanol (28.9%), export (15.3%), food, seed, industrial (9.8%) and DDGS (7.6%). The 15.1 billion bushels came from the 94.0 million acres planted. Of the planted area, 86.7 million acres were harvested. The total corn crop value in 2016 was 51.5 billion US dollars. This corresponds with an average price per bushel of 3.40 US dollars. Most corn is produced in the states Iowa and Illinois.
