AB Vista hosts another successful ruminant feeding seminar

14-06-2012 | |

AB Vista gave the cream of the cattle and sheep feed industry plenty to chew over at its second Ruminant Feeding Seminar. Delegates from across the UK and Ireland congregated at the National Motorcycle Museum in Birmingham on 30 May to hear about the latest trends in ruminant feeding and the benefits of adding specialist micro-ingredients.

A number of presentations saw distinguished speakers from leading supply companies and research centres share their insights into ruminant diets and health. Dr Ad Van Vuuren, Senior Scientist at Wageningen University, gave a presentation on essential nutrients for dairy cows, including rumen-protected choline, while Freek van Essen, Specialist Feeding Expert at Lely Robotic Milkers, spoke of the benefits of individual cow feeding. Mark Cox, Sales Manager of Micron Biosystems, highlighted the current challenges posed by mycotoxins in ruminant feeding systems.

AB Vista’s own technical experts, Drs Derek Mcllmoyle and Nicola Walker, gave presentations on rumen conditioning and buffers, and the best feed additives for rumen health and efficiency. To conclude the day, attendees heard about new and future advances in feed technology.

Neil Spreckley, General Manager for AB Vista in the GB & Ireland markets, said: “This was the second AB Vista Ruminant Feeding Seminar in as many years, and we were delighted with the number of delegates and their reaction to the presentations. Our speakers shared a great many fascinating findings about ruminant diets – and based on the positive feedback received from attendees, this will continue to be an annual event.”
