The event, designed specifically for the manufacturers of equipment used in the production of livestock feed, pet food and related ingredients was attended by nearly 40 representatives of equipment-manufacturing firms from across the United States.
“The conference provides a great opportunity for attendees to network with other equipment suppliers to the industry, learn about the latest issues facing the industry, and learn new management tools to help their business grow and be more profitable,” said Keith Epperson, AFIA vice president of manufacturing and training.
Among the presenters at this year’s conference were experts on sustainability, the economy, communications, technology and productivity. Joel G. Newman, AFIA president and CEO, provided an update on the association’s efforts on behalf of its members.
Presentations about equipment design, selection and installation also were important components of the conference, just as they are each year. The agenda also included time for networking and social interaction.
The Nov. 6 lunch included a screening of a 13-minute film created to honour AFIA’s 100 years of history. The film, “The promise lives on,” debuted in March at a special lunch designed to commemorate the association’s century-mark achievement.
The conference for equipment manufacturers is organized by members of AFIA’s Equipment Manufacturing Committee. The current chairman of the committee is Tim Lease of WL Port-Land Systems.
The conference was at the Sanibel Harbour Resort and Spa near Fort Myers, Florida. The 2010 conference will be Nov. 4-6 in Tucson, Arizona.
