Biofuels not always better than fossil fuels

Biofuels not always better than fossil fuels

The total emissions and the energy required for bio fuel production is not per se better than can be achieved with fossil fuels.

Sweden and Germany have introduced tough laws that
require biofuels to meet sustainability criteria before they receive any special
treatment.

Quebec has halted a program of building subsidised corn
ethanol plants due to concerns around the availability of feedstock and the
greenhouse gas emissions the process produced.
