Biomin has published a report on a comprehensive mycotoxin survey including contamination results of the year 2007/2008. Also the trend of mycotoxin contamination since 2005 is evaluated in this report.
The report includes detailed information regarding the types of commodities tested, specific region allocation, average and maximum contamination levels, most contaminated commodities. In a 2009 special release, contamination results of the year 2007/2008 will be shown and the trend of mycotoxin contamination since 2005 will be also evaluated.
Biomin tested corn, wheat, rice, soybean meal, corn gluten meal, dried distillers grains with solubles (DDGS) and other fodder such as straw, silage and finished feed (in total 1086 samples). These were tested for aflatoxin B1 (AfB1), zearalenone (ZON), deoxynivalenol (DON), fumonisin B1 (FUM) and ochratoxin A (OTA).
From all survey samples 31%, 46%, 54%, 54% and 19% tested positive for contamination with AfB1, ZON, DON, FUM and OTA, respectively. If compared with data from the previous year (2006/2007), an increase on the occurrence of AfB1 and ZON can be observed.
The full article on this report will be published in Feed Mix 17.2 (April issue).
