In piglet rearing, several problems occur: A lack of teats to accommodate the entire litter; milk quality differs markedly between teats and the litter hierarchy leaves the lower-quality milk to the weaker piglets, which can be detrimental and result in high piglet fatality, says Jens Villadsen.
