Canada’s ninth case of bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE), announced in February, was most likely caused by suspect feed, according to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.
The CFIA said in a statement that the latest case did not indicate an
increased risk of BSE, or bovine spongiform encephalopathy, in Canada.
The
eighth case of BSE, found on August 9 on a commercial beef cow on a farm in
northern Alberta, Canada was also most likely caused by feed
ingredients.
