Co-siting: new Dutch feed plant uses waste energy
The planned new feed company Noblesse Proteins in Wijster, the Netherlands will be using the waste heat from neighbouring power plant Essent.
Through this co-siting, the feed company will use the heat for its production process. Construction of the feed plant will start in November 2010.
Using the waste heat from Essent makes the production process not only cheaper, but also more sustainanle according to Director of Noblesse Proteins, Johan Visser.
Another Dutch agri co-siting principle is the (former) Happy Shrimp Farm in Rotterdam. This aquaculture facility uses the waste heat of the E.ON power plant to heat the shrimp bassins to a comfy tropical temperature of 30 degrees Celcius.
