COA: No dog meat in animal feed

The Council of Agriculture (COA) assured animal owners that there is no animal feed containing dog meat in Taiwan.

The COA also dismissed rumors that animal feed containing horse and kangaroo meat had been imported from Australia.

The COA admitted that there was one incident ten years ago where certain animal feed was found to contain meat from a non-farm animal, but stressed that no dog meat was found in the case.

The COA emphasized that according to the Quarantine Requirement for the Importation of Animals or Animal Products, any animal feed must contain a certificate of inspection from the country of export, list its ingredients, and pass examination by the Bureau of Animal and Plant Health Inspection and Quarantine in order to be imported into Taiwan.
