01-04-2009 | |

De Heus Feeds in the Netherlands acquired the Czech feed company Zemedelské služby Bestovice a.s. (ZSB) in Chocen (160 kilometers east of Prague). This acquisition fits within the company’s focus to increase its local presence and growth in markets with a high agricultural potential.

The acquired company has a production capacity of about 60.000 metric tons of compound and complete feed, mainly on cattle and pig feed but also caters some interesting niches like zoo animal-, rabbit- and horsefeed. Part of the ZSB acquisition is a 50% share in Agrobest s.r.o. this company produces special products for cattle under VOLAC-license (rumen bypass products) and special feed.

Growth Strategy De Heus
The Czech and Slovak markets offers these opportunities. Within these markets the acquisition of ZSB offers De Heus the potential to grow in the cattle market and combine specific knowledge of the two partners to enable a better proposition to the market. The acquisition will provide economy of scale making it possible to cover the complete Czech and Slovak market and contribute to reach our goal of market leadership in these markets. First steps will be integrating the commercial activities and the alignment of the product portfolio. All products and services will be traded under their current brand names.
