Flanked by giants in science such as Prof. Watson, co-discoverer of the structure of DNA, director general of CERN, Prof. Rolf Dieter Heuer and NASA administrator, Charles F. Bolden Jr., Dr. Pearse Lyons, president and founder of Alltech, will deliver the final keynote address during the Science-2-Business session at the Euroscience Open Forum (ESOF), taking place in Dublin, Ireland at 14:45 on the 15th of July 2012.

Dr Lyons’ address will cover the story of how a scientist with $10,000 built a multi-million dollar, animal health and nutrition company. He will also discuss what the future holds for the agriculture industry and for Alltech, as the population grows to a slated 9 billion by 2050.
“Alltech’s success is based on scientific expertise, combined with good business sense and the ability to see opportunities where others don’t. This approach has helped revolutionise the animal feed industry through the introduction of yeast-based ingredients to feed,” said  Dr. Pearse Lyons. “Now, as the company enters its fourth decade of business,  this solid base allows us to reinforce our commitment to science by providing our scientists with the freedom to explore new avenues of research and find solutions to future issues, such as how to feed 9 billion people.”
ESOF 2012 is the largest European science forum and gives scientists and other experts a chance to present their work on a variety of important topics such as climate change, human genetics, space exploration and agriscience. The conference has attracted more than 4,500 delegates and will feature hundreds of presentations, including talks by five Nobel laureates.
