Feed Mill of the Year Applications available online

21-05-2010 | |

Applications for the American Feed Industry Association’s 2010 Feed Mill of the Year award are available online through June 11. AFIA is partnering with Feedstuffs on this program again this year.

The Feed Mill of the Year program recognizes three feed mills—an overall winner, a runner-up plant and a most-improved facility—for overall excellence each year.

Participation is limited to feed mills with current AFIA memberships, and each applicant will receive bench-marking information at the end of the competition, regardless of where the facility finished relative to others also competing.

The pledge to provide bench-marking information to all applicants is a key reason why many managers submit applications.

Application
To apply you can fill in the online application form. The application fee for the program is $35 per facility. Questions may be directed to Keith Epperson

Facilities that enter the competition will be provided with feedback about their application and how they scored in each category relative to other applicants.

Many companies have used this feedback to improve their overall standing in the program, as well as to improve their facility in the areas of safety, quality, efficiency, housekeeping and government compliance.

The Southern States plant in Cleveland, N.C., was the 2009 Feed Mill of the Year; the Cargill Turkey Production facility in Harrisonburg, Va., was the runner-up. The most-improved mill was the Hubbard Feeds Inc. facility in Sioux City, Iowa.
