Global Bio-chem significantly to increase lysine production

Global Bio-chem Technology Group together with its subsidiaries made some major breakthroughs during the first half of this year on the R&D of new lysine products, namely, lysine 80% and lysine 75%, and improvement in the production processes which could substantially reduce the cost of production.

The Group has commenced construction work of modification, which will result in a substantial increase of 60% in its annual production capacity of lysine products from the current 500,000 metric tonnes to 800,000 metric tonnes.

With the continuous rise in living standards in China and robust demand for lysine products, Global Bio-chem has been striving to increase its lysine production capacity in order to cater the market demand.

Modifying production facilities
Construction work of modification has just started. The modified production facilities will allow production of different types of lysine products, including the newly developed lysine 80% and lysine 75%, as well as the Group’s existing lysine products, namely, lysine 98%, lysine 70% and lysine 65%.

Cost of production will be substantially reduced with the use of the newly developed technology. It is estimated that the modification work will cost approximately RMB50 million (€5.4 million) and will be completed in November 2011.

“The Group has always attached great importance to research and development. As the world’s largest lysine products supplier, we will maintain our leading position through capacity expansion and continued focus on research and development. We believe the increase in lysine production capacity will further consolidate the Group’s leading position in the lysine market,” said Mr Xu Zhouwen, Co-chairman of Global Bio-chem.

Headquartered in Hong Kong and with its production facilities based in various provinces in China, Global Bio-chem is the largest vertically integrated corn-based biochemical product manufacturer in Asia with an annual corn processing capacity of 3 million tonnes. The Group is a leading lysine manufacturer in the world with an annual fermentation capacity of approximately 500,000 metric tonnes.
