Intertek Group has bought German laboratory Biodata Analytik, a subsidiary of K+S Consulting, for €3.6 mln cash to enhance its global food business, particularly in Europe.

The quality and safety services provider said it expects to grow its food
services in Europe through the acquisition and sees Biodata’s expertise in
agriculture and environmental services providing synergies across its global
network.

Biodata provides laboratory analysis and evaluation with a focus
on food, along with analytical services on animal feed and agricultural
products. It also provides analysis and evaluation of the quality of water,
soil, air and waste products.

“For Intertek, this acquisition is a very
important milestone. Biodata Analytik, which complies with the “Good Laboratory
Practice (GLP)” regulations, has a number of important accreditations and is
recognised market leader in the area of analysis”, states Dr. Jochen Zoller,
chairman of Intertek Food.

services in the quality and security areas and serves various industries – both
globally and locally. Intertek has the experience, resources and a global
network of 970 laboratories and 20,000 employees in over 100
