Sustainable food
production
Commenting at the official opening, Commissioner McCreevy
said: “This innovation is about much more than an £5.6 million investment in
technology, engineering and animal nutrition.
“The real vision here has been
the investment in intellectual capital, including the Science Advisory Board,
which has resulted in the development of a system that provides a platform for
sustainable food production methods. “This has the potential to boost family
farm incomes; to support Ireland’s green, ‘food island’ image and to play a
significant role in tackling global warming.”
Gerard Keenan, chairman of
Keenan System, added: “Today is a significant milestone in the evolution of our
company, and the investment programme has allowed us to transform the company
and our role in the food chain.
