The future of Blayney’s Nestle Purina pet food factory in New South Wales, Australia has been assured. Instead it will close another factory and transfer production to the central west.
The Inverell Supercoat factory in the state’s north-west will close in March
next year, leaving 160 people out of work.
The company’s general manager,
David Grant, says the decision to close the factory and transfer production to
Blayney follows an extensive business review of New South Wales
operations.
“The decision has been made based on the amount of investment
that would be required to bring Inverell up to the level to be able to
accommodate the Blayney production, so the decision was made to transfer
production from Inverell to Blayney because the cost of that is minimal,” he
said.
