The International Production & Processing Expo (IPPE) continues to grow. The number of exhibitors has exceeded 1,100 and more than 400,000 net square feet in exhibit space. IPPE is a collaboration of three integrated tradeshows: International Poultry Expo, International Feed Expo and since January 2013 also includes the International Meat Expo. The three together represent the entire chain of protein production and processing. The event is sponsored by the American Feed Industry Association (AFIA), the American Meat Institute (AMI), and US Poultry & Egg Association (Uspoultry).

As usual, IPPE 2014 will feature the latest technology, equipment and services used in the production and processing of poultry, meat and feed products and will also feature dynamic education programmes addressing current industry issues.

Variety of activities

IPPE workshops and education programmes will be held January 27 – 31, and will include the annual line-up of the International Poultry Scientific Forum, Pet Food Conference, and the Animal Agricultural Sustainability Summit. New for 2014 are the following educational programmes: Sanitary Equipment Design Principles; New Approaches to Ground Poultry Pathogen Reduction; Antibiotic Workshop; How to Export Feed & Feed Ingredients to the US; Current Issues for the Egg Industry; Media Training for the Meat and Poultry Industry; Poultry Handling and Transportation Quality “Train the Trainer” Workshop; Fall Protection Short Course; Biosecurity – Revisiting the Basics and Implementing New Strategies and the Meat & Poultry Research Showcase.

Feed education programme

Back by popular demand is the AFIA International Feed Education Programme. The forum will address issues unique to feed manufacturers, discussing topics impacting today’s feed manufacturers. Keith Epperson, AFIA’s vice president of manufacturing and training, will open the forum, presenting the latest regulations from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). Richard Sellers, AFIA’s senior vice president of legislative and regulatory affairs, will discuss the implementation of the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA). The final speaker, Dr. Henry Turlington, AFIA’s director of quality and manufacturing regulatory affairs will discuss FSMA Hazard Identification Requirements. They will focus their talks on areas that directly impact today’s feed manufacturers and what managers need to know on how to abide by the regulations. New to IPPE 2014 is the VIV International Pork Production Summit. This is organised in close co-operation with VIV tradeshow organisers VNU Exhibitions from The Netherlands.
