Director General of the Department of Livestock, Sunil Chandra Ghose, said
that while bird flu has been contained over recent weeks, the industry still has
a major job of recovering from its effects.
Ghose said 11,25,676 birds were culled up to March 3. The number of eggs
destroyed stood at 14,75,000.
The government has established close surveillance mechanism in highly
vulnerable areas and maintaining watch all over the country to detect new
outbreak as the reports of new incidence have sharply declined.
