US exports of distillers grains have reached record highs. According to USDA statistics, the United States exported 2.3 million tons of distillers grains in 2007, almost quadruple the amount exported in 2003.
The U.S. Grains Council has been
working since 2003 to increase exports of distillers dried grains with solubles
(DDGS) to countries that were previously unfamiliar with the ethanol coproduct.
Earlier this year, the council received its first order of DDGS from Tunisian
importer Poulina SA. The USGC also recently sent a trial shipment of DDGS to
Algeria.
