Uni-President starts building aquatic feed plant in Vietnam

Uni-President Enterprises Co on Wednesday held a groundbreaking ceremony for its US$140-million aquatic feed plant in Dien Nam Dien Ngoc Industrial Park in Quang Nam Province, Vietnam, Vietnam’s national paper, Thanh Nien reported.

The new plant, which will be the company’s third aquatic feed plant in the country, will cover an area of 13 hectares and have an annual production capacity of 100,000 tonnes of aquatic feed and 400,000 tonnes of flour, instant noodles and animal feed per year.
 
Uni-President has been producing animal feed, aquatic feed, flour and instant noodles in industrial parks in Vietnam since 1999.
 
Its plant in the Mekong Delta produced more than 250,000 tonnes aquatic feed since it started operation in July 2006.
 
The new plant is scheduled to be operational in March 2011.
 
Uni-President Enterprises Corporation is an international food conglomerate based in Tainan County, Taiwan.
 
It is the largest food production company in Taiwan as well as Asia, and has a significant market share in dairy products, foods and snacks, and beverages markets.
 
It is also responsible for running Starbucks, 7-Eleven, and Carrefour in Taiwan. In addition, Uni-President also has subsidiaries in China, Thailand and Vietnam.
