A seminar on U.S. DDGS production, utilization and price perspectives has been held in South Korea.
The U.S. Grains Council’s manager of international operations for distiller’s
dried grains with solubles Dan Keefe and Ted Hattori of U.S. BioEnergy updated
the 110 attendees of the seminar.
The Korean Society of Animal Nutrition
and Feedstuffs organized the forum with sponsorship from the Ministry of Food,
Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Korea Feed Association and others. In
addition to end-users, Keefe and Hattori also spoke with importer
distributors.
We reached the collective conclusion that bulk shipments
will need to be increased in order to rapidly expand imports,” Keefe says. “They
informed us that the import duties on DDGS are low and are scheduled to be
reduced to zero percent later this year in order to reduce cost pressures on the
livestock industry in Korea”
