Volac launches new feed additives website

Volac has launched a new website for its Feed Additives division, which it says highlights the company’s expert technical support services and range of evidence-based products designed to improve the efficiency and sustainability of livestock production systems around the globe.

Cargill acquires feed mills in the US

To grow with the ag retail and large ranching/farming segments in the western and central regions of the US, and to expand the production and distribution capabilities of its Animal Nutrition and Health business, Cargill has acquired 2 feed mills from Compana Pet Brands. One is in Denver, Colorado, and the other in Kansas City, Kansas. The Denver mill has 35 employees and has a dedicated packing lines, which allows for growth with ag retail customers who serve the backyard/hobby farmer and pet owner segments. Cargill will also be able to meet the needs of large farming and ranching operations in the region with the expanded capacity and some additional investments in the operation. The Kansas City mill is located close to Cargill’s Kansas City feed facility and enables the company to continue to be a key supplier in the area and grow with customers in the region.

dsm-firmenich receives market authorisation for Bovaer in South Korea

dsm-firmenich has  announced that its methane-reducing feed additive Bovaer has received market approval for use with beef cattle in South Korea, making it the first product the country has approved for this purpose. The country has 3.6 million beef cattle.

Timac Agro launches new range of granular feed supplements

Timac Agro UK has launched a new range of feed supplements based on the formulations of its livestock nutrition blocks, designed to aid feed efficiency in cows, sheep and goats. Now available, Spadea Rumen G and Spadea Fix’N G are 2 micro-granulated mineral supplements, formulated specifically to buffer the rumen and enhance the efficiency of feed utilisation. 

dsm-firmenich announces EU authorisation for HiPhorius

dsm-firmenich has announced the approval of its new generation phytase HiPhorius for all poultry species for fattening or reared for laying or reared for breeding, sows of all Suidae species and all fin fish in the EU. HiPhorius, it says, allows for more efficient phosphorous utilisation and faster and more efficient removal of the potent antinutrient phytate.

Novus partners with Ginkgo Bioworks to develop new feed additives

Novus International and Ginkgo Bioworks, involved in cell programming and biosecurity, have partnered to develop advanced feed additives designed to meet the evolving needs of the animal agriculture industry. Novus will utilise Ginkgo Enzyme Services to build more efficient enzymes that can be produced cost-effectively.

CJ Bio completes transition of Thr Pro 80% to 85% Active

CJ Bio has completed the planned transition of Threonine Pro, increasing its active L-threonine content from 80% to 85%. The company’s facility in Fort Dodge, Iowa, began manufacturing Threonine Pro 85% in June, ceasing production of 80% material. Threonine Pro was first introduced to the US market in 2019 and has since become the top-selling source of Thr supplementation due to the trend to onshoring, and the products improved handling characteristics. 

Kuhn adds film binding to FB 3130 baler

Kuhn Farm Machinery has extended the option of its Twin-reel film binding technology to its FB 3130 baler. The Twin-reel system was already available for the larger FB 3135 – the addition means both models in the fixed chamber FB 3100 range now feature the option. The system uses 2 x 750mm stretch film rolls to bind the bale as opposed to a single, wider conventional unit. This means operators are handling lighter rolls, which makes them easier to load into the mantle. The film features a higher pre-stretch ratio compared to conventional films, offering the potential to reduce binding costs by up to 37%. 

Process Integration moves to new headquarters

Process Integration was founded 9 years ago with the mission of delivering the most efficient solutions in process plants. The company has since experienced growth, and in September 2024, the headquarters moved into a new 1,200 sqm facility in Skanderborg, Denmark, to accommodate its employees and future projects. In the past few years, the company has expanded with offices in Chile and Norway, as well as new satellite offices in Viborg and Vejle. Additionally, they have appointed an agent in the US and established a workshop in Hørning.

Hanskamp launches the FeedStation Mobile

Hanskamp has introduces the FeedStation Mobile, a solution enabling automatic and individual distribution of concentrate feed to cows during grazing. This sustainable and mobile system is designed to improve the health and welfare of cows while reducing feed costs and optimising milk and meat production. The FeedStation Mobile can also be used in the barn by simply connecting it to a power source, allowing the station to be utilized year-round, both indoors and outdoors. The company will present the FeedStation Mobile at the EuroTier this November (hall 13, stand 13C15). 

Protein Producer is building fermentation plants for animal feed in Southeast Asia

Danish protein producer, European Protein, known for its fermented proteins for animal feed, has partnered with Malaysian feed producer, Yenher Holdings Berhad, to establish 2 new fermentation plants to supply the Southeast Asian markets. The fermentation plants will join a family of 3 plants in Denmark, Ukraine, and the US. The first of 2 Malaysian plants will produce fermented proteins based on rapeseed meal, seaweed and soybean meal, while the second will ferment a new product based on palm kernel meal. 

Orffa expands in Asia

Founded in Belgium in 1967, Orffa is now expanding its presence in Asia with the appointment of Ramakanta Nayak as the new managing director for the Asia-Pacific region. Nayak will spearhead initiatives to provide science-driven feed solutions that address the specific needs of Asian livestock producers, with a focus on gut health an immunity, feed efficiency and mineral nutrition.

Fefana re-elects Séverine Deschandelliers as president

Séverine Deschandelliers has been re-elected president of Fefana for a new 2-year term. Over the 2 terms she had been president, Deschandelliers concentrated her actions on raising stakeholders’ awareness about the role of specialty feed ingredients in limiting the environmental impact of livestock production. She also spearheaded Fefana’s action on the need to modernise the regulatory framework to release the innovative potential of the feed industry and to boost its overall effectiveness to support the transition to a more sustainable food system.
